Diversity is the future of Apple

애플이 Tech(기술)회사임에도 인문학을 강조해서 성공했듯, 이번에는 다양성(Diversity)입니다. 미국의 내노라는 기업들이 다양성을 강조하고 있습니다. 남녀노소, 다른 종교, 다른 나라, 다른 정치적인 견해, 다른 철학, 다른 도덕성이 모여 break through한 일을 만들수 있을거라 생각됩니다.

한국 기업은 대기업 위주에 그 대기업은 남자 위주에 모두 한국사람이고. 한 수장에 라인을 대서 비판의식도 없고 도덕성도 없고 윗 사람이 시키는 대로만 하는 사회가 이런 변화를 따라갈수 있을까 생각됩니다. 한국은 모난돌이 정 맞는다는 말이 아직도 맞는 사회입니다. 모나면 안되고 튀어도 안되지요. 중간만 있을뿐.

Tim Cook has pledged that Apple's future won't be as white and male as it has been in the company's past. The CEO sat down with Mashable in advance of the WWDC keynote to say that diversity is the "future of our company." It's not just hand-wringing that has prompted his attitude, since he believes that "the most diverse group will produce the best product." The executive has added that the tech community needs to work a lot harder to show women that the industry is "cool" and "how much fun it can be."

Cook also believes that a lack of female role models in technology is a problem, one that Apple has been previously at fault for. As recently as March this year, the company scored a diversity own-goal by having just one woman on stage at its Apple Watch launch event. Unfortunately, the individual wasn't even one of the company's handful offemale executives, like Angela Ahrendts (retail), Lisa Jackson (environment) or Denise Young Smith (HR). Instead, it was model Christy Turlington-Burns, who was asked to talk about her experiences running while wearing the wearable. Cook has hinted that this next keynote will help rectify the problem, hinting that we're likely to see a much more diverse presentation than we're used to.
