이베이에서 스마트와치를 추천하길래 눌러놨습니다 깜짝놀랐습니다. 디자인에 놀라고 가격에 두번 놀랐습니다. 뭐 이건 장난감으로 사도 되겠습니다.

중국의 기술력이 정말 이정도까지 빠른가요? 한번 모방할것만 잡으면 6개월내에 비슷하게 만들어 내는 실력을 여러회사가 가지고 있다고 봐도 무방하겠습니다. 모든 분야에서요. 물론 가격이 말하듯 LCD도 후질테고(TFT) 배터리도 오래안갈것으로 예상됩니다.

시계정도 사이즈에 모뎀(Modem)을 집어넣어 전화기능을 가능하게 했습니다. 이건 좀 어려운 기술력이다고 생각되어졌었는데요, 미디어텍 등의 기술력이 누구나 자기것을 받아다 만들수 있게해주나 봅니다. 스마트 밴드(fitness tracker, 건강 트랙커)와 함께 전화정도 지원하는 wearable이 아이들 하니씩 비상용으로 필요하다고 인식될분야라 생각하고 있었는데 중국은 벌써 진출했네요.

어쨋든 하드웨어만 생산하는 회사들은 이제 만들어 먹고 살게 없습니다. 중국으로 빨리 이전하든지 접던지 해야지요. 한국 업체들 특히나 걱정 많이됩니다.

이것은 삼성을 따라한것 같은데 한번 더 자빠질 내용은 SIM카드를 지원해서 GSM/GPRS네트워크를 통해 전화와 data를 지원하는것 같습니다. 헐~ 미디어텍 AP와 모뎀인것 같습니다. 어떻게 이런가격에 이런 스펙이 되지요? 배터리는 어떻게 버티고요? 4시간만에 충전해야하고 그렇지는 않겠죠?

스마트홈 시장에 대한 자료입니다.

스마트홈 관련 전체적으로 성장이 골고르네요. 아무거나 하나 잡아서 해도 10년은 먹고 살것 같습니다.

아래쪽 smartwatch와 smart band(스포츠 트랙커, sports and fitness tracker) 시장의 연결방법(connectivity)에 대한 내용이 나오는데 bluetooth는 여전히 성장하지만 WIFI의 성장이 눈에 뜁니다. watch류는 bluetooth와 wifi가 default로 포함될것으로 예상됩니다.

Fitbit 기기중 가장 highend smart watch이지요. Heart rate과 GSP까지 포함되고도 battery life가 일주일이나 간다고 합니다.

무려 250불이나 하는데 주변에 사용하는 사람은 상당히 만족하는 것을 봤습니다. 저는 Fitbit Charge제품을 몇개월째 사용중인데 정말 대단한 제품이라고 생각됩니다.

대표적인 웨어어블인 스마트 와치, 스마트 밴드에 관한 이야기 입니다. 애플와치가 시장에 들어오면서 고가형은 다 잡아먹고 샤오미 미 밴드가 저가형을 다 잡아가고 있습니다. fitbit이 독보적으로 1위인 시장이 이번년에 아주 급격히 변하고 있습니다. 그래서 fitbit도 상장을 서둘렀겠지요.(틈세시장으로 시작했으니 빨리 변하지 않으면 먹튀 IT업체로 끝날수 있겠죠)

그런데, 핏빗 찰지(fitbit charge), 아~ 완전 완전 추전입니다. 큰 LCD화면이 필요없고 오래가는 것을 가장 중요하게 생각하는 사람에게는 최고의 제품입니다. 샤오미 밴드 두어개 살까하다가 이거 사고 완전 만족 중입니다.

강점이라면

1. 작고 가볍습니다.
2. 착용감이 아주 좋습니다.
3. 배터리가 정말 오래갑니다. 7-10일 간다고 합니다.
4. 시계가 선명하게 나옵니다
5. 충전도 빠릅니다.
6. HR빼고는 왠만한 track은 다 합니다.
7. floor climbed도 지원합니다. 오르고 내리고를 알수있다는 거지요.
8. App이 정말 깔끔하고 좋습니다.

1. 배터리를 절약하려고 sync를 자주하는것 같지 않습니다. 새로운 data로 update하는데 좀 늦습니다.
2. 착용감은 좋지만 갑자기 클립이 빠지기도 합니다.
3. track하는 data가 아주 정확한것 같지 않습니다.
4. Floor climbed가 특히 안정확한것 같습니다. 이거때문에 돈을 더 추가한건데... 
5. Heart rate(심박)을 지원하지 않습니다. (지원하는 모델이 있습니다)
6. 자전거 운동을 잘 트랙할수 없습니다. GPS와 HR이 있으면 가능하겠네요.
7. 샤오미 밴드에 비해서 가격이 삐쌉니다

단점에도 불구하고 완전 강추입니다. 미리 써봤더라면 Fitbit IPO play도 했을것 같습니다.

왜 삼성은 이런시장에 뛰어들면서 시장도 읽지도 못하고 예측도 못했을까요? 배터리도 안되는데 왜 큼지막한 LCD를 넣고 시작했을까요? 특히 젤 마음에 안들었던 배터리가 하루밖에 안가는 것과, 정전기식 터치때문에 시계를 끼고 샤워를 하면 시계가 완전 맛이 갑니다. 켜지고 꺼지고 완전 지랄을 하다가 뻗어버립니다. 시계를 끼고 샤워도 못하고 수영도 못한다니, 명품 시계는 샤워할때 안차고 들어가나? 삼성것 두가지나 써보고 완전히 실망이었습니다. 삼성이 이제 다시 후발주자가 됐으니 애플와치도 따라하고 핏빗도 잘 따라했으면 좋겠습니다.

스마트 와치는 삼성이 돈과 시간을 많이 들인 분야인데, 삼성혼자서는 시장을 크게 열지 못했습니다. 아직까지 들인 개발비에 비해 이득도 크게 못가져갔고요. 2014년까지 삼성이 혼자 어렵게 유지해온 시장에 애플이 2015년부터 뛰어들어 새로운 생태계를 만들고 돈을 좀 벌수 있을거라 보여집니다. 애플은 차원이 높은 장사꾼이네요, 애플 와치를 만들것 처럼 소문내서 삼성을 뛰어들게 하더니 자기는 시장이 형성되는것 보면서 들어오는 모양이니까요.

재밌게 보는 부분은 2015년부터 Tizen에 대한 점유율이 점점 줄거라는 예상입니다. 결국 스마트와치시장에서 삼성의 몰락을 예상하는 건가요? 삼성이 파는 스마트 와치의 OS는 큰 비율로 Tizen이 많을텐데요. 아니면 삼성도 Tizen을 결국 포기할거라는 생각을 하는걸까요? 애플의 애플와치가 공개된 이상 시장은 급격히 애플와치 따라하기, 애플와치에서 되는거 우리도 된다는거 보여주기 여기에다가 우리는 애플와치에서 안되는 이것도 된다는 식으로 흘러갈텐데요... Tizen에서는 어려울것 같다고 저도 생각됩니다. $100이하의 완전 저가형에는 Proprietary OS, Tizen이 유리할테고, 고가형에서는 아무래도 안드로이드 연합군으로 같이 싸우는것이 유리하겠죠.

내 꿈이 이루어지는 나라!

스마트와치로 상당히 빠르게 성장했던 Fitbit(핏빗)이 상장을 추진한다는 소식이 들렸습니다.

2014년에 revenue가 $745고 profit이 $135M 이었다고 합니다. 아직 상장도 안한회사치고는 완전 알짜입니다. 저도 스마트 와치에 관심이 많아 이것저것 써봤지만 배터리가 1-3일밖에 안가는 것은 오래 못쓰겠더라고요. Fitbit은 이런 사용자의 요구를 가장 잘 알고있고 대체로 배터리 life도 좋고, 시장에서 스마트 와치에 가장 적합한 제품중에 하나라고 생각됩니다. 직접쓰는 사람도 만족도가 상당히 높습니ㅏㄷ.

다만 타이밍이 애플와치 첫번째 버전이 시장에 나온 시점이고 모든 기업이 스마트 와치에 집중을 하는 때라 더욱 경쟁이 격화되기전에 빨리 상장해서 먹튀하려는 것 일수도 있겠습니다.

IPO로 $100M정도 모으고 싶다고 밝혔는데요, 주식의 몇 퍼센트를 내놓을것인지 밝히고 있지않아 예상 시가총액을 모르겠습니다. 경영실적과 시장에서 차지하는 위치를 봤을때 $10B (10조)정도 market cap으로 상장되지 않을까 합니다. 창업자들이 어마어마한 돈을 손에쥐었다고 상장후 나오겠지요.

미국은 정말 부러운 세상입니다. 시계 쪼가리 만들어서 거대한 부를 쥔다는 것이 제가 자란 나라에서는 상상이나 됩니까?

회사의 어떤 친구는 heart rate을 원하면서 일주일 배터리 가는거 찾으면 Fitbit Surge말고는 없다고 한다. 일주일도 못가는 것은 공짜로 줘도 오래 못쓴다.
