아마존 e북의 대항마 – 굴(Oyster)

책 시장에서는 모르긴 몰라도 킨들(Kindle)을 앞세운 아마존(Amazon)이 독보적이겠죠. Amazon Kindle unlimited는 $9.99에 무제한으로 책을 읽을수 있습니다. 책 시장에 부풰 네요. 저는 한달에 하나 읽을까말까라서 구지 맞지 않지만, 어떤사람에게는 정말 저렴하게 무제한 지식의 보고를 여행할수 있는 기회가 되겠습니다. 은퇴하면 이런거 하나해서 하루에도 몇권씩 읽어보면 좋겠습니다.

한쪽으로 편중되다보니 사식 독과점적 지위를 이용한 정책이 문제가 되는데, 이에 대항하는Oyster (먹는 굴할때 같은 단어)가 강력하게 뜨고 있네요. 아직까지 아마존에 비해서 좋은점은 하나도 없을것 같네요. 그래도 시작은 서로 경쟁을 잘 했으면 좋겠습니다.

If you haven't heard of Oyster, the most apt way to describe it is as "the Netflix for books," allowing users to pay a monthly subscription fee for access to its catalog of over 1 million digital titles. On Wednesday, the company launched what it is calling Oyster 2.0, which includes a full eBook store that might stand a chance of rivalingAmazon's ubiquitous storefront.

"With our new ebook store, virtually any book you can think of is available on Oyster, including all new releases and pre-orders like Harper Lee's Go Set A Watchman and Jonathan Franzen's Purity."
